Dear Members and Supporters,
Your Texas NORML board of directors would like to announce the upcoming election of the Executive Director position. This position is currently held by Josh Schimberg. All board positions are three year terms and Josh’s term is up for election in January of 2011.
Volunteers, Members or Officers are encouraged to run for positions when one comes up for election, a position is created to fill a need, or a current board member resigns. To be elected to the board, one must have a high participation level in Texas NORML by already being a member, active volunteer, or an Officer of Texas NORML.
Executive Director – Summary:
The Executive Director presides over all board meetings. This person has general supervision over the business of the organization and its officers, consults with and trains new board members, manages fundraisers and events, and has a leadership role in initiatives undertaken by Texas NORML. There is also public speaking and letter writing involved. Other beneficial qualifications include experience with social media and familiarity with the Texas legislative process.
This position is an unpaid, volunteer position, with Texas NORML.

Board positions come open on a regular basis. The next scheduled board positions to come open will be Veteran’s Liaison and Volunteer Coordinator in 2012. But as the busy 2011 Legislative session approaches, and Texas NORML becomes more active, we are always looking to our supporters for leaders and active volunteers to help us stay strong and prevail.
Elections will take place, at the Texas NORML’s board meeting scheduled for January 13th, 2011. All Board Member and Officer positions are elected by your current Texas NORML Board of Directors.
