Texas NORML’s Privacy Statement
Texas NORML understands that you may have privacy concerns, both on and off the Internet. We have provided this statement so you know what type of information we obtain, how we use that information, and what you can do to correct it if necessary.
What Information Texas NORML Gathers:
Web Traffic Monitoring
Texas NORML keeps track of non-personally identifiable information such as the IP address of the user’s computer, time of access, browser type and files downloaded to gather usage statistics for our website. IP addresses are not associated with other information about a user, they only indicate general visitor navigation patterns. This is typically done by most websites.
Additionally, although Texas NORML is primarily funded by individual donors, in order to successfully meet our organizational goals through other fundraising sources, our website has embedded tags that allow some third party entities such as Google Analytics to collect non-personally identifiable usage statistics.
Texas NORML does not collect personal information through our website other than what is supplied to us on a voluntary basis.
Cookies
Texas NORML’s website does not use cookies, except for periodic pop-up windows relating to Texas NORML messages, legislative alerts, and shopping cart tools. Third party entities with embedded tags on Texas NORML’s website may set cookies to track user traffic trends. You may set your browser to: (1) inform you when cookies are being set before a cookie is stored; (2) not accept cookies at all; or (3) erase all cookies from your hard drive.
Email Subscriber List
Texas NORML allows you to sign up for our free email list. To subscribe, you must provide your email address. This information is only used to send you the monthly newsletter, action alerts when the legislature is in session, and interest based emails if you make any such selections. You may also provide your name and address and any specific topics you are interested in hearing about, but none of that is required to receive the electronic mailings. If you will provide your physical address, Texas NORML will target your legislative alerts based on your Senate, House, and Congressional Districts. If you wish to stop receiving mailings at any time, follow the procedure described below. Email correspondence from Texas NORML will also include these opt out instructions.
Partial Information
With supporters’ privacy in mind, Texas NORML will only share information gathered electronically within our coalition with Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy , National NORML and with no other organizations. However, if you are willing to provide a partial address, most importantly your zip code, this often enables us to identify your elected officials and better coordinate our efforts to effectively reform marijuana laws.
Donations and Purchases Online
Texas NORML allows you to contribute financial support, become a member, purchase books, shirts and other merchandise, and occasionally register for conferences online. To do so, you must provide your name, address, and credit card information. You are sometimes asked to optionally provide email addresses and/or telephone numbers. For your protection, Texas NORML uses a secure server to collect this information. The credit card information is used solely to bill you for donations and/or purchases. For purchases, mailing addresses are required to send merchandise. For members, physical addresses are useful in determining who you represents you. Telephone numbers, if provided, would be used as a contact option in case of problems with a purchase and may in the future be used to renew memberships and request donations. Texas NORML does not share information about donations, memberships, or merchandise orders.
Change, Unsubscribe, and Delete Requests
To change your membership information, unsubscribe from an email list, or request that Texas NORML remove you from our mailing or telephone solicitation list, please can contact us by email at info@texasnorml.org.
