Let’s talk about voting. Please open a browser on your phone. Go to votetexas.gov. Click on the “Register to Vote” tab. Scroll to the bottom of the page to where it says “Find Out If You Are Already Registered To Vote.” Select your preferred way to search yourself from their 3 options. There I am, registered to vote!
Raise your hand if you are currently registered.
Raise your hand if you NEED to register. Please note that you can do so from this website or you can go get the form from our table to fill out and drop in the mail. Cheyanne is our voter registrar if you have any questions.
Please open your calendar on your for important dates to remember. YOU MUST REGISTER by October 6th, 2014 to be able to participate in the election. For those of you who are un registered, note that date.
EARLY VOTING will begin Oct 20th and end Oct 31. The poll wills be open from 7a-7p.
Election DAY is on Tuesday, November 4th
Another important websites that I encourage you to bookmark in your phone is vote411.org – this website can help with registering to vote, finding out who your candidates are and more.
As you all know, we do not endorse candidates but we do welcome them to come and speak to our groups and share with us their ideas on Prohibition. I would like to introduce Robert Butler, Libertarian Candidate for Lt Gov of Texas.
Before I go into current events, I would like to make a point to mention that during non-presidential elections years, voter turnout is in the SINGLE DIGITS in Texas. This must change!
