Several bills to reduce penalties for marijuana possession will be considered by the Criminal Jurisprudence Committee on Monday, April 1. These bills seek make possession of small amounts a Class C Misdemeanor. Unfortunately, if passed, these bills would uphold the possibility of arrest and leave a person with a life-long criminal record. The first Texas hemp hearings will also happen on Monday, April 1. If passed, these bills will create a regulatory/licensing infrastructure so Texas farmers can grow hemp. It has been requested that those that are farmers offer verbal testimony.
