FREE EVENT!!!! On Saturday, February 23rd from 1-3pm, join Texas NORML at the Austin Public Library – Windsor Park branch at 5833 Westminster Drive. Meet the Board of Directors, discuss the legislative session, our efforts, and how to get involved. We’ll have several round table groups to answers your questions and tell you more about Texas NORML’s athletic group, patients’ issues, involving more women in the movement and more.
We will present and discuss our efforts this legislative session and how each person can help get the decriminalization and medical bills passed THIS YEAR. Board members will discuss their specific areas of focus and answer questions at separate tables in a casual environment. We want to have one-on-one conversations and group discussions with you, as well as introduce you to (or tell you more about) who we are and what we’re working on individually and as a group. This will be a great opportunity to meet, make sure we’re all working together on our common goals and what we can technically and realistically expect as we move forward, as well as why we choose certain avenues of reform over others. These activist days always help clear up some misconceptions in state and local laws, which is helpful for all of us to be up to date with. We’ll also discuss the steps and procedure of how to change the laws in Texas, which is in many important ways different than other states, particularly those which have been successful in achieving decriminalization, medical use, and even legalization.
