Primary Election Results – Austin Area Districts
Races of Notes:
US Congressional District 21 – Rep Jason Isaac, R (formerly of Housed District 45) was in the running with 18 competitors, he lost his bid for the seat. There will be a run-off between Chip Roy, the former chief of staff to Cruz, and business owner Matt McCall. There will also be a run-off on the Democratic side between Mary Street Wilson and Joseph Kosper.
US Senate – Beto O’Rourke won the Democratic nomination and will be facing Incumbent Ted Cuz in November.
House
District 45 – Formerly held by Jason Isaac, R, who went on to run for US CD 21. In November, the Republican candidate will be Ken Strange. There will be a run-off election on the Democratic side between Rebecca Bell-Metereau and Erin Zwiener
District 46 – Formerly held by Dawnna Dukes, D. She lost her bid for re-election. There will be a run-off election on the Democratic side between Jose “Chito” Vela and Sheryl Cole. The winner of the run-off will face Gabriel Nila in November.
District 47 – Paul Workman, R is the incumbent for this district and won the Republican primary. There will be a run-off election on the Democratic side between Vicki Goodwin and Elaina Fowler to see who will face him in Novebmer.
District 48 – Donna Howard, D ran uncontested in the Democratic primary and no Republican ran to oppose her. She will be the only option on the ballot in November.
District 49 – Gina Hinojosa, D ran uncontested in the Democratic primary and will face Kyle Austin, R in November.
District 50 – Celia Israel, D ran uncontested in the Democratic primary and no Republican ran to oppose her. She will be the only option on the ballot in November.
District 51 – Eddie Rodriguez, D ran uncontested in the Democratic primary and no Republican ran to oppose him. He will be the only option on the ballot in November.
District 52 – Larry Gonzales, R did not run for re-election. Therefore, James Talarico, D and Cynthia Flores, R will face each other in November.
District 136 – Tony Dale, R ran uncontested in the Republican primary. John H Bucy III, D ran uncontested in the Democratic primary. They will face off in November.
Senate
District 5 – Charles Schwertner, R ran uncontested in the Republican primary. Meg Walsh won the Democratic nomination. They will face off in November.
District 14 – Both the Republican and Democrat ran uncontested. Incumbent Kirk Watson, D and George Hindman will both be on the ballot in November.
District 25 – Incumbent Donna Campbell, R will face Steven Kling on the ballot in November.
